Last Saturday my dear friend Tika invite a couple of friends including me to share the joy and happiness of her success. The place she chose for the big day is the trending steakhouse Holycow! that located at Jl. Panjang, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. Actually the appointment time is around lunch time, but because of the unpredicted traffic my friend and I both late. Lucky, Tika still waiting there patiently with her usual smile and offering us to order the meal.
A little about Holycow! Steakhouse and the person behind it, Chef Afit Dwi Purwanto who previously worked for a well-known TV station. The idea itself pop to his mind after enjoying a plate of juicy wagyu steak at a very fancy restaurant. Just like his motto "wagyu is for everyone", now we can enjoy fancy steak with affordable price. And with a good marketing strategy using the social media, Holycow! soon become famous and adding more branches.

A unique door knob, can't help myself not to knock it |
Holycow! there's me again in reflection mode. The building surrounded by glasses that give enough light during the day. |
The place itself cozy with modern minimalist concept and the color of red and white dominating the whole restaurant. Started with the big red wooden door with the bull's head handle that easily capture my attention while entering, the chairs, the solid walls, curtains, and the waitresses also dressed in red. I don't know it's coincidence or not but red in Chinese representing fire, and fire element is good in running restaurant business. Despite of that belief, Holycow! now a success, considering the crowded people waiting in line to eat here and it's a rare view to see empty seats. So, if you want to eat while having a long and serious talk, this is not the perfect place. Remember we're here to enjoy tasty and fancy steak and do come early if you are too hungry to wait in queue.

Okay, time to eat and enjoy our meal, started with sipping my Mango Peach, onto the main course which of course Wagyu Steak and tasting the tasty dessert Tiramisu in a cup by weMISU.
"Wagyu refers to several breeds of cattle, the most desired of which is genetically predisposed to intense marbling and to producing a high percentage of oleaginous unsaturated fat" - Wikipedia
Mango Peach
IDR 17.000 (before tax)
I order this refreshing Mango Peach Syrup with less ice, the portion quite big. So you don't have to worry run out of it while waiting the steak to arrive.
Wagyu Tenderloin, served with mashed potatoes, BBQ sauce and beans
IDR 175.000 (before tax)
The meal I order, why I choose tenderloin? Of course to avoid fat. I also choose it cooked well done, since I'm not a fan of raw meat. So this is not a favorite option for you who seek for a perfect steak experience. You can choose your sidedish and sauce too, between beans or spinach, potato fries or mashed potatoes and between barbeque, buddy's special (basil), mushroom, white sauce (herbs) or blackpepper sauce. One more thing, I love how they cook the beans with garlic. It simply make them more delicious and adding the flavor to the whole dish.
Wagyu Sirloin, served with mashed potatoes, mushroom sauce and beans
IDR 125.000 (before tax)
Now we're talking, this is the favorite part of cow that almost everybody loves, sirloin. The fat make it more juicy, especially when it cooked medium rare. Hmmm....! Just imagining it makes me want to forget my diet. If you notice the background of the photo, yup, that's right there's a free steak for the birthday boy / girl whose willingly to wear Holycow! crown while eating. So, anyone care to try the majestic crown?

They maybe small, but they tasted big. Available in various flavor, such as green tea, coffe, original, durian, and strawberry. It soft and creamy on top just like ice cream with thin layer of cake at the bottom, the sweetness also just right not to sweet. I like coffee and durian the most, but then again I'm only suggesting durian if you're a durian's fan.
A little treat for my family (misu durian and strawberry) Many thanks to Tika for sharing the joy and tastiness! |
